Five leading vineyards, based in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, announce their inaugural weekend of festivities June 8th – 9th 2019 to celebrate the formation of a new English wine region: ‘Vineyards of the Surrey Hills’.

A new collaboration of five multi-award winning vineyards have announced a special launch weekend on 8th 9th June 2019, to celebrate the formation of a new English wine region – ‘Vineyards of the Surrey Hills’. This collection of top producers, located in the glorious Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), offers guests a fantastic experience – outstanding wines, beautiful views and a warm welcome.

This group of picturesque vineyards excels in producing outstanding wines, ranging from exquisite English sparklings, through still white and rosé wines, to sumptuous sweet wine. Each will host unique experiences to delight visitors.

Guests of this celebratory weekend can choose to take part in a range of different activities at each vineyard; from viewing Sculptures, enjoying music or a picnic in historic gardens, exploring a ‘secret vineyard trail’, sampling a range of wines from tasting bars set in the vineyards, or even participating in a Battle of Waterloo ‘Champagne vs English sparkling taste-off,’ hosted by a master of wine.

“England is now internationally recognised as a leading producer of top quality wines” explains Nick Wenman, owner of Albury Organic Vineyard and chair of Wine GB South East. “We are proud to be putting Surrey on the map as a premium wine region, offering some of the very best wines and visitor experiences that England has to share”.

Sibylla Tindale, co-owner of High Clandon and a member of the group explains: “This initiative not only celebrates our outstanding wines but also the beauty of the five vineyards set within the Surrey Hills AONB. Each vineyard, from boutique to big, has unique offerings in multi-award winning English wines and tours. We want our visitors to delight in wandering through the vineyards, tasting the wines, to learn something new and to really immerse themselves here.”

Vineyards of the Surrey Hills was recently created to celebrate the excellence of wines grown in this unique area. Nurtured on the chalky limestone hills with the same geology as that of the Champagne region, these vineyards have a unique location and represent the very pinnacle of quality in the increasingly-successful English wine industry, having won top international awards for their wines and wine tourism.

Easy to find and easy to reach, just 20 miles from London, the vineyards comprise Denbies Wine Estate, High Clandon Vineyard, Albury Organic Vineyard, Chilworth Manor Vineyard, and Greyfriars Vineyard. A map of the wine region invites visitors to explore the area using easily accessible routes whether they’re walking the North Downs, hopping on a train from London, or enjoying a drive along the leafy lanes of Surrey.

They invite you to enjoy their stunning vineyards, taste the wines, and learn something new. Immerse yourself in this area of outstanding natural beauty.
