2010 Extra Brut En Tirage California Sparkling Wine

Right from the world famous Napa Valley in California USA comes this 2010 En Tirage Extra Brut Blanc de Blanc Carneros Sparkling Wine.

Napa Valley is America’s most famous wine region, with varied geographical territory running about 20 miles long from the San Francisco Bay northward to the foot of Mount St. Helena.

Don Baumhefner started the wine program for John Ash & Co. in 1980, while he was working part-time with Joseph Swan Vineyards in Forestville. Then in 1982, he started working full time with Joe. Don was his only employee and helped with the pruning, cellar work, bottling and bookkeeping.

The En Tirage label was created to emphasise their extended ageing, this wine has been aged in the cellar en tirage for over six years.

The wine was produced and bottled by Chateau Beaux Hauts in lower lake California.

Tasting Notes:A pale golden colour with aromas of baked apple, butter croissant and lemon curd giving the feeling of walking through a bakery. The taste is silky and creamy with a good long length of flavours to include yellow fruits (including citrus), toast, brioche and hints of honey. I would categorise this sparkling wine in to our Creamy section for its smoothness and creamy character.
