29th August 2015

Champagne Harvest 2015

The harvest in Champagne has begun today in Montgueux, with other villages beginning their harvesting anytime between now and the middle of September.

Champagne is made up of the following regions: Aisne, Aube, Marne, Seine-et-Marne and Haute-Marne, each of the villages have different start dates when they are allowed to pick the grapes and even sometimes the different grapes (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) can have different dates that the picking can begin.

There will be approx 120,000 pickers picking the grapes by hand who will have approximately three weeks in which to work to get the grapes at their best.

The full list of dates can be viewed here: www.champagne.fr
